It is important for us to help our clients implement positive, effective solutions. Our goal aligns with the customer's: to increase traffic and sales, and attain financial goals. We become responsible for the management of the optical practice, so the business can focus on providing the work it was meant to provide.
— Mary Walker, Director of Operations

Vision Associates (VA), a leading optical dispensary management and consulting company, recently exhibited at the 40th annual American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) & American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) Symposium & Congress, held April 25-29 in Boston, MA.

During the event, Mary Walker, the company’s Director of Operations, gave a presentation on best management practices, which provided suggestions for attendees on how to make their optical dispensaries more profitable. Her talk, entitled “Yes! Contact Lenses Can Be Profitable,” featured general information in the following areas:

  • Strategic Buying
  • Inventory Management
  • Patient Presentation
  • Competing with Online Retailers
  • More Profitable Contact Lens Departments

Ms. Walker offered an overview of VA’s business by saying, “We provide free, no-obligation initial consultations to determine upfront if our services can benefit the customer’s practice. It is important for us to help our clients implement positive, effective solutions. Our goal aligns with the customer’s: to increase traffic and sales, and attain financial goals. We become responsible for the management of the optical practice, so the business can focus on providing the work it was meant to provide.”

Vision Associates also hosted a special reception for its optical dispensary clients who were attending the ASCRS & ASCOA meetings. Invitation to the event was extended to those clients who were attending the Boston conference from any of VA’s numerous ophthalmology dispensaries, located from coast to coast. The highly successful meet-and-greet took place at the InterContinental-Boston on April 26.

Vision Associates has been managing ophthalmology dispensaries since 1993. Since that time the company has grown its customer base exponentially, and gained a reputation for its expertise and service orientation. The company, a nationally recognized leader in ophthalmology dispensing, has made it a priority to participate in professional events such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and ASCRS.

In addition to its professional contributions, Vision Associates shared its community service values by contributing to a fundraising event for “The One Fund,” held at the Whiskey Priest on April 28. The One Fund is a centralized charity formed by the governor of Massachusetts and the Boston mayor, to benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. To date, The One Fund has distributed nearly $61 million to victims.
