Staircase Designed Boat & Dock Ladder Aims to Prevent Accidents

The Aqua-Stairs bold new design for a marine ladder is different from conventional boat dock ladders. Unlike regular ladders that are accessed to and from the water in a vertical fashion, our boat dock ladder is designed as a staircase, allowing entry and exit to the water in a stair-step fashion. Our ladders have become a game changer for both people and dogs because they make it easy to get out of the water by walking on steps.
Aqua-Stairs®, the leading provider of boat dock ladders, created a newly designed ladder meant to assure safety for people and pets.

Every year there are hundreds of dock ladder accidents in which people have slipped and fallen, sometimes sustaining serious injuries. Aqua-Stairs, an innovative company that specializes in aluminum dock and boat ladders, now offers a “stair step” ladder, which makes it possible to climb out of the water by literally walking on steps.

Michael Adair, company founder and spokesperson, says, “The Aqua-Stairs bold new design for a marine ladder is different from conventional boat dock ladders. Unlike regular ladders that are accessed to and from the water in a vertical fashion, our boat dock ladder is designed as a staircase, allowing entry and exit to the water in a stair-step fashion. Our ladders have become a game changer for both people and dogs because they make it easy to get out of the water by walking on steps.”

Another major difference between vertically styled traditional boat dock ladders and the angled Aqua-Stairs is in the width of the steps. While the conventional ladders include steps that are only two to three inches wide, the Aqua-Stairs ladder steps are around eight inches deep. The greater depth in the steps helps to secure footing and balance for pets, children, the elderly, and anyone not physically able to climb straight up a dock ladder.

The company stocks the following boat dock ladder sizes and styles, most of which include steps that are approximately 16” wide and 8” deep:

  • 3 Step Ladder – smallest style, weighs approximately 31 lbs.
  • 4 Step Ladder – best seller, typically for floating docks and piers.
  • 5 Step Ladder – most popular swimming ladder.
  • 6 Step Ladder – longest ladder, with last step 6 ft. below mounting surface.
  • Special 7 Step Ladder – designed for those with difficulty lifting legs on steps.
  • Side Mount Pontoon Boat Ladder – Needs a 22” opening; holds 250 lbs.
  • Rear Mount Pontoon Boat Ladder – Fits most pontoon boats, yachts, cabin cruisers.
  • Swim Platform/Yacht Ladder – Used most on larger boats

Aqua-Stairs ladders are made to ease getting out of the water by walking instead of climbing. A variety of models are designed for use in various situations, including:

  • Boat Docks
  • Piers
  • Seawall
  • Swim Platforms
  • Pontoon Boats

Two of the most briskly selling Aqua-Stairs products are boat dock ladders and the pontoon ladder. Ladders and parts are listed by category on the company’s ShopNow button at http://www.mcssl.com/store/aquastairs/.
