Visit Isle of Wight (VIOW) has recently added holiday parks to its list of tourism sectors on the Isle of Wight. Listed under the British Holiday and Home Parks Association banner, a total of eight parks including Cheverton Copse Holiday Park/Healthfield Park, Sandhills Park, The Orchards Holiday Park, Waverley Park Holiday Centre and Whitefield Forest Touring Park, Grange Farm, Appuldurcombe Gardens Holiday Park and The Old Mill Park have joined the organization.
An additional £20 million was pumped into the economy on the Isle of Wight through tourism visitor spending in 2012, said VIOW. In the third quarter of 2013, the number of short break visitors was the highest they have been in eight years, 37% higher than they were in 2012. Unfortunately, this spectacular expansion did not extend to all sectors. Last year, the chalet market and static caravan, which represents 25% of the Island’s holiday attractions, did not do as well as other sectors, said VIOW chief executive, David Thornton. Independently operated and owned, these first rate holiday parks will be the focus of our new advertising campaign.
In association with VIOW, most of the holiday parks on the Isle of Wight have established a marketing group to collectively come up with promotional improvements. Recent studies have shown that when it comes to planning holidays, women are generally the decision makers. With this in mind, the marketing group began its spring campaign by running both digital and print promotions in many national magazines for women. Shying away from the big, crowded theme parks the advertisements focused on friendly, small holiday parks. On the VIOW website, a wide range of value-added deals will also be promoted on a new Webpage.
