New Product Release Extremely Heavy Load Transporters Designed and Produced in the United States Safely and Efficiently Move Hundreds of Tons

Waverly, IA (Sharewellnewswire.com) September 11, 2012 - A new generation of self-propelled transporters, designed and produced in the United States, carry 30 to 500 tons and excel where others do not – over irregular services, in congested aisles and around tight corners.

The transporters engineered by  Wheelift Systems Group serve diverse industries including aircraft and shipassembly, heavy manufacturing, mining, nuclear spent fuel and transformer assembly. Custom engineered and manufactured in central Iowa, Wheelift’s transporters are available with very heavy load capacities plus movement flexibility as small as one thousandth of an inch.

The transporters can cross a wide range of surface irregularities including open grating, sloping drains, in-floor rails, misaligned expansion joints and ramps, all without the difficulties that are inherent in conventional methods.

The new generation of self-loading transporters typically has six to 12 inches of precision vertical lift as a function of their equalizing suspension system. Wheelift transporters are available with deck heights as low as 18.5 inches and load capacities up to 500 tons.

Transporters are designed in two basic configurations: “Headed” where the power and control system is in a raised compartment at the rear of the transporter and “Headless” where the engine and controls are integrally located inside and under the load deck. The latter allows the transporter to enter and exit from any direction under stand-supported loads. Wheelift’s low profile, self- loading transporters can lower down and drive under raised loads, then lift and carry those loads to the next assembly station.

Wheelift announces full tandem operating capability. The transporters provide entirely new capabilities for in-plant heavy assembly systems that have never before been available to industry. Two to four or more transporters can work in tandem while moving freely over any type of floor surface. The Wheelift Systems Group is part of Doerfer Companies. Wheelift Systems Group specializes in very heavy capacity in-plant tandem operating transporters (normally referred to as IP-SPMTs or In-Plant Self-Propelled Modular Transporters) and automatic guided vehicles (AGVs).
