Adding another portal to Listen, Respond.

Community Connex Project – theHelpPoint

The awareness of abuse, bullying, harassment, mental health issues, depression and feeling of suicide is increasing, but not fast enough. Resources are stretched for the frontline organizations in our communities working to assist those struggling to reach out of a darkened mind set. At the same time we are experiencing new phenomena; cyber bullying, workplace harassment. The social worker on the front lines is swamped, police agencies find themselves wrestling with an increasing responsibility not even considered just years ago and the community organizations that have been formed to step into the voids are equally overwhelmed and under funded.

A Canadian firm, QuizzPoint Corporation, has undertaken to make their HelpPoint online software available in an effort to assist front line organizations by enhancing their ability to listen and be available to those seeking to reach out. In addition theHelpPoint tool provides an administrative back end for quick response and followup. Their “Community Connex” project’s goal is to provide theHelpPoint.net tool to as many of these organizations as possible. Many simply do not have the resources to acquire such a valuable efficiency-enhancing tool.

It is sometimes difficult to understand the challenge someone entrenched in an emotional low faces in their attempt to step out and beyond that frame of mind.  Victims of harassment can feel shame and become immobilized by their circumstance, reaching out becomes a challenging hurdle creating further stress at a stressful time.

theHelpPoint.net provides a simple easy to access connection point between the individual seeking to reach out and community organizations which can help.

The software allows for anonymous dialog, which is sometimes crucial for an individual making the first contact. It creates a viable option for those who would otherwise be afraid to reach out. Importantly, it can be used from a location the individual feels safe, private and comfortable… via a computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone anywhere, anytime. The software sends an instant message via email to facilitators who can respond immediately.

The company began this program, funding it personally… and are pleased to be supporting the CCAA and will soon support the American arm of the organization.

The company is reaching out via a crowd funding initiative to extend an opportunity for any who wish to help them cover the hard costs of expanding the reach of the project and support for more organizations. Any donation is appreciated.
