London, UK – June 6th 2014 - Custom wedding cakes designer of London, Elaine Rhule says that couples are no longer opting for traditional white tiered wedding cakes, but rather choosing trendy custom designs, including unique custom made individual cupcakes for their big day.
As a wedding cakes London designer, this comes as no surprise to Elaine, who thinks a wedding cake should incorporate the personalities of the couple who are to be married. "The trouble with a traditional cake is the formality and similarity of each cake", explains Elaine. She went on to say "let's face it, each couple who marry is made up of two very unique individual personalities, and no two couples will be anything like each other, so why should each couple have a cake on this very special day that looks practically identical to the next couple’s cake? I recently made a wedding cake styled as a football pitch which reflected the couple's love of the game, and another with a Spanish theme, chosen because the couple met while on holiday in a Mediterranean resort. This makes a fun centre piece for a wedding, and is a great way for the guests to actually focus on the couple, rather than the celebration or food."
While not surprised that people are opting for amazing custom wedding cakes over the traditional cake, Elaine is quite surprised at the number of couples ordering unique wedding cupcakes.
"I simply love receiving an order for wedding cupcakes," beamed Elaine. "They are such fun to make, and look absolutely fabulous on the banquet table. Like custom wedding cakes, a couple’s personality can be incorporated into wedding cupcakes - wedding cupcakes never failed to put a smile on the face of everybody in the wedding party”.
Elaine thinks that price is one of the main factors leading to couples choosing cupcakes over a larger cake. If you have a small wedding party, you need only order the exact number cakes you will need. When ordering a traditional cake or even a single custom wedding cake, you tend to overestimate the size required, and unfortunately in many cases cake simply gets thrown away.
Another more simple reason why couples are choosing cupcakes is due to the fact they look so unique and charming. Elaine's neighbour Donna Groom recently married and was over the moon with the cupcakes Elaine supply for her wedding.
"The cakes had an ivory shade of icing, and were decorated with edible adornments such as tiny bells, wedding rings, and white flowers. I have no idea how Elaine managed it, but I can honestly say that each and every guest commented on the cakes. Apart from they looked fantastic, we also found it very convenient option, as the guests who did not want to eat cake on the day were able to take an individual cake away - with no mess and no fuss. I will definitely recommend wedding cupcakes to my friends when they get married".
